As of Monday morning, U.S. markets are under pressure following Moody’s downgrade of the U.S. credit rating from Aaa to Aa1, citing persistent deficits and rising interest costs.
This has led to a dip in stock futures and a rise in Treasury yields, with longer-dated yields approaching 5%. Markets have been strong so I am looking to see if they can shake off this morning drop, find a base and move higher today.
Here are some of the key movers so far this morning.
Key Market Movers
Nvidia (NVDA): Shares fell 3.4% after CEO Jensen Huang announced a new AI server platform collaboration with firms like Qualcomm and a supercomputer project with Foxconn. NVDA has been very strong as of late so a buy the dip would be something that’s of interest to me here.
Tesla (TSLA): Stock declined 4.2% due to weak sales in China, the U.S., and Europe.TSLA has been strong as of late so I like to look for opportunities like this for technical entries.
Walmart (WMT): Shares dropped 1.9% after President Trump criticized the company for attributing price hikes to tariffs. Walmart is my favorite retail stock so pull back are welcomed from me.
UnitedHealth (UNH): Stock rose 3% in premarket trading after rebounding from losses tied to a DOJ investigation into Medicare fraud. Huge risk trade here but could see big swings.
Super Micro Computer (SMCI) and Palantir Technologies (PLTR): Both saw premarket declines of 4.1% and 4.6%, respectively .
Upcoming Earnings
Investors are anticipating earnings reports from major retailers and tech companies this week, including Home Depot, Target, and Zoom Communications
With this being said, I am looking forward to teaching my morning SPY trade of the day in the Market Navigator room where I will look for an opportunity to buy SPY calls on this morning's dip.
How confident are you in the long-term growth prospects of AI-driven companies like Nvidia? |
Cheers and good luck today!
