Good morning traders,

Looks like markets are off to a quiet start this week as traders get ready to digest 3 key data points for the week which I will highlight below.

Key Market Drivers This Week

1. Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole Symposium

Markets are closely watching Fed Chair Powell’s remarks at Jackson Hole for additional clarity on monetary policy. Expectations for a September rate cut are high—market-implied odds stand at around 80–85% Fed watchers are especially focused on whether Powell signals a shift toward easing policy amid cooling inflation and economic resilience. Keep in mind the meeting is August 21 -23 of this week.

2. Retail Earnings Roll In

Major retailers—Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Lowe’s, TJX, Ross, and beauty brands like Coty and Estée Lauder—are reporting this week. These reports are expected to shed light on how rising tariffs and inflation are affecting consumer behavior and pricing strategies

3. Global Geopolitical Tensions

Markets remain cautious ahead of a key meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, as well as European leaders, in Washington. The outcome of these diplomatic talks and broader geopolitical developments continue to impact sentiment, oil prices, and global asset flows

These key items will shape the week, especially Fed Powell at Jackson Hole, so be careful with your idea. Personally I’ll be watching to see if earnings and Fed Powell can help boost markets higher this week.
