Morning Traders,
A lot to look at today with PPI, Fed Powell and earnings, below highlight a few items I’ll be watching to help make my morning SPY trade of the day.
Key Factors Influencing the Markets:
Trade Developments: Recent agreements between the U.S. and China to reduce tariffs have bolstered investor confidence. Additionally, discussions of potential deals with Iran and India are contributing to a more optimistic outlook.
Inflation Data: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April indicated a 0.4% month-over-month increase, aligning with expectations and suggesting that inflation pressures may be stabilizing. This morning at 8:30am we will get more inflation data with a PPI reading. If this reading comes in line or better than expected, markets could push higher.
Corporate Earnings: Tech giants like Nvidia and Tesla have reported strong earnings, with Nvidia's stock rallying due to a significant partnership with a Saudi Arabian AI firm.
Federal Reserve Watch: Investors are closely monitoring upcoming comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for insights into future monetary policy decisions. Fed Powell will be speaking around 8:40am today.
That’s a quick snapshot of what’s on my radar for data for the morning. I am also watching jobless claims at 8:30am. Assuming these data pieces come in line or better than expected, I am watching for SPY to test $590 area today. If we miss, then sub $580.
Good luck on your trades
